BIGFORK VALLEY KIDS CHALLENGE NEXT SATURDAY
Visitors to Bigfork on Saturday will see lots of activity on the Bigfork School athletic fields, two blocks east of Main Street.
The Bigfork Valley Kids Challenge will host its second annual youth event from 9 a.m. – noon, offering kids ages 5 – 12 an opportunity to practice and compete in sports skills before the school year begins.
Kids who complete the seven events will earn a participation medal and may earn a ribbon or trophy for their skills. Events include soccer kick, foot races, basketball hoops, long jump, softball throw, Frisbee throw and hockey shoot.
Water and concessions will be available during the morning. At the end of the event, there will be trike races and lunch concessions before the awards ceremony.
The event is free. Registration opens at 8:30; a parent or responsible adult must register each child. Concessions are a fundraiser for Caleb’s Basket, a fund to sustain the pets that live in the Bigfork Valley Communities nursing home.
Kids ages 6-15 are also invited to participate in the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick, run concurrently with the Kids Challenge. A parent must register with the child and bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate. Cleats are not permitted. Age categories are based on age as of December 31, 2011 and winners may advance to the next level.
The Kids Challenge is a community health initiative by Bigfork Valley to encourage youth to be active and learn skills that will help them be successful in athletics. For more information, call Aaron at (218) 743-4147 or email
